#Makha Bucha Day (Full Moon Day of the 3rd Lunar Month)

Magha Purnami refers to the act of worship on the full moon day of the third lunar month.

🌕 Magha means the third lunar month.

🙏 Bucha means paying homage or showing respect through offerings and acts of reverence.

☝️ Key Significance

Makha Bucha commemorates four miraculous events:

It occurred on a full moon day.
1,250 monks assembled spontaneously without prior arrangement.
All 1,250 monks were Arahants (enlightened disciples).
All had been ordained directly by the Buddha himself.

Note: In Thailand, when the lunar calendar includes two eighth lunar months in a year, Makha Bucha Day is observed in the middle of the fourth lunar month.

Wat Chong Samaesan's Makha Bucha Merit-Making Activities

On the 15th day of the waxing moon, 4th lunar month, devotees gathered at Wat Chong Samaesan to participate in Makha Bucha Day observances.

Activities included:

🙏 Paying homage to the Buddha
🙏 Undertaking the Five Precepts
🙏 Chanting Buddhist prayers and making offerings
🙏 Listening to Dhamma teachings delivered by the Sangha

The Dhamma sermon was delivered by:

Phra Maha Phichet Rattanapanyo, Pali Scholar Level 9 (Pali IX)
Head of the Pali Studies Department, Wat Chong Samaesan

Approximately 100 devotees participated in the merit-making activities.

At 7:00 PM, a candlelight procession (Wian Tian) was held around the ordination hall of Wat Chong Samaesan.

All devotees were warmly invited to participate in these sacred activities and join in preserving this important Buddhist tradition.
